3 Ways to Supplication | ACTS of Prayer Pt 5

SUPPLICATION

Are you too proud to beg? Supplication means pleading to God. In this audio and post we share 3 ways to implement supplication in prayers. Often misunderstood, and rarely explained supplication lets our requests be made know to God. It is important when seeking blessings from God. The ACTS of Prayer model is a simple method of praying. Read our shared practices of A-adoration, C-confession, and T-thanksgiving in previous posts to activate the ACTS of Prayer.

Generally, supplicating exemplifies strongly asking God for something we need or want. Hebrews 4:16 shows a great example of how to use supplication in prayer. In addition, we find the word supplication about 60 times in the Bible. Each verse is highlighting the requests, or pleas of someone.

3 WAYS TO SUPPLICATION IN PRAYER AUDIO

One well known verse of prayer and supplication is Ephesians 6:18. As an important part of prayer, we share 3 ways to supplication while praying.

  • Ask humbly. As children we asked for what we wanted. If you are like me, I used that “sweet, pleading-eyed look” that usually worked. I used this method hoping to sound as humble and honest as I could to get what I wanted. Asking God humbly with supplication means to petition God with the honest respect and reverence due to Him. He responds to your raw needs. Do not be too proud to beg.
  • Change fear to trust. Supplicating also means that we let God know we trust Him to answer our prayers. In fact, to go to Him in fear suggests we are not sure if He will answer. God always answers, we must be prepared for how he answers. Therefore, we must trust He will do what is best for us.
  • Ask boldly for what you seek. When we put aside fear, we can ask God with the certainty He will supply all our needs. Fear limits us in what we seek. Do not fear the answer. Remember, in your supplication you are humble, yet you still want an answer.

The 3 ways to supplication teach us how to send our earnest pleas to God. Therefore, humble, absent of fear, and sending bold requests = supplication. We can pray prayers of thanksgiving and reverence however; when asking God for something we desperately want or need, practice supplication with prayer.

S-Supplication concludes the acronym A-C-T-S in the ACTS of Prayer model.
