There are 5 significant reasons to celebrate the Resurrection in 2017.
I think many would agree that 2017 has been a different and interesting year. I often wonder if others feel the same sense of strangeness. If you do, you are not alone.
As we move into the Easter season and celebration I encourage all to rejoice. I encourage everyone to keep the faith. For those who believe, Easter is a Holy Day. The season symbolizes a major sacrifice imparted in our lives. For that reason alone, let me remind you of the 5 Significant Reasons to Celebrate Easter in 2017.
1. Jesus paid a significant price for you. Once, when the world, filled with sin was on the brink of God’s wrath, Jesus stepped in. His sacrifice makes it possible for us to live free of sin. Today, increased controversy surrounds this mark on history. Many historians and scholars seek to debunk or prove this remarkable event.
There was a time when we relied on the Bible as absolute truth. Now, in 2017, many deny the Bible as truth labeling it as fiction. I am one of those who still believe the Bible as absolute truth. Are you? If so, Jesus’ death on the Cross is most significant for celebrating the Resurrection.
This unselfish act of dying for lowly humans supersedes any simple assistance from man. In “The Atonement: Jesus Addresses Sin” audio narrative, I take you to the Cross to clarify the atonement and sin. Check out the Easter Special.
So, before you dismiss the day and season, think about the daily disappointments our Father sees. Then, remember that you can ask God to forgive the shortcomings. After that, He will forgive you. Why? Because of the significant death and resurrection of His Son Jesus to free us from the bondage of sin.
2. Significant grace and mercy. Jesus is as graceful and merciful as it gets. I am often amazed when I hear people overlook the goodness of God.
Many believe it is their own power that gives them the daily strength to move on. I am aware we are physical beings. I also know that some things I have escaped are simply hard to explain. Can you remember those times in your life? I am convinced that if it were not for a higher power of mercy, things would be different.
I am also convinced that a higher power of grace allows me to excel in many things. If God withheld good things from me, I didn’t deserve, my life would be stagnant. So would yours. Grace and mercy are significant to us. Jesus keeps these two lifesavers active in our lives (Psalm 51:1-2). Mediations between the Father and us are significant components of Christianity.
3. Significant faith. If it were not for my faith in God, I would have succumbed to defeat and fear. Each day is an act of faith. Many are unaware that faith is the substance of things hoped for. Faith is the evidence of things not seen. (Hebrew: 11:1).
Just the simple acts of breathing, walking, eating, thinking, and seeing are faith based. It requires faith to hope that we will be able to do these things.
Humble acts of faith and encourage me to move forward with otherwise unlikely events. If I allow the fears of defeat and uncertainty control my thoughts, they overpower my faith.
Because Jesus is the source of my faith and hope. Faith is significant. Celebrate the Resurrection. “He Restoreth My Soul” is a compilation of healing scriptures that helps anyone exercise their faith.
4. Significant blessings. (Isaiah 41: 10). It is difficult to teach new Christians and inexperienced people the way of blessings. Teachings are now turning to more worldly views of how the unexplained occurs. The true meaning of blessings is on the verge of extinction.
I often hear people responded with “I am blessed,” after the question, “How are you?” In today’s world, many do not know the significance of “I am blessed.” Simply put, along with faith, everything is a blessing. Saying the words puts a seal on recognizing that God is in control of everything. Because of that, He can bless and un-bless.
So the next time you hear someone make that declarative statement, ask them to share one blessing. If you are uncertain, or have questions of the meaning, you will soon discover it simple. Celebrate Easter, you are blessed to be here.
5. Significant others. (Galatians 6:2). If you think you can make it without others, you are mistaken. I am so glad for so many significant others in my life. It is a mistake to think that you can make it with just you and God. Oh, you might be able to survive with just you and God, but your life will not be as enriched.
God places others in our lives to love, support, and offer companionship. He saw it was not good for Adam to be alone, so He created Eve. The same holds true for us.
Take time to relish in the good things that people in your life bring. Build better relationships with those who challenge you. Thank God for family and friends who stand with you in tough times. Everyone in your life is significant, whether positive or negative. From these experiences and contacts, we grow into who we are. Celebrate Resurrection Sunday and Season with loved ones, and God–your significant others.
