I invite you to read Seasons Part 1, we shared how to recognize the different seasons of life. Here in part 2 we share how to to enter and travel through the new fall season with hope in Christ, and Scripture.
Here are 5 ways to do just that enjoy and gain blessings.
1. Follow the transition from summer to fall with beauty. As we witness the changes in the beauty of our environment, remember to pay attention to your own changes in beauty. The colors of the trees and bushes can only change when the old fall away to make a way for the new. The new leaves surround us with beauty that cannot be matched. Try changing with them. Let go of the busy summer and transition into fall with a new mind. Grab your beauty. Refer to Ecclesiastes 3:1
2. Refresh your mind for the months ahead and beyond. There is nothing like a new mind. A new mind releases the old and changes your thinking to face a new chapter in life. We are not designed to remain he same mentally. Progress slows down when minds are suppressed with old things that have passed away. For instance, 1 John 1:9 instructs us to let go of things that slow our progress. We are urged to confess sins so we become cleansed. Cleaning refreshes the mind so you can enter the season free of past burdens.
3. Keep focusing on Jesus. Jesus is the author and finisher of our faith, Hebrews 12:2. As your faith has carried you to this point, keep it to finish your entire journey. Jesus is the author of our faith. This means that our faith begins in him, ends in him, and sustains us with him. Jesus holds everything we do in his hands and we must trust him to guide us through life. The fall season begins and ends with the coming praise of his birth. Just as years before, from October-December keep your focus on Jesus. Jeremiah 29:13.
4. Increase your thanksgiving. Yes, most of us already smell the turkey! That day of thanksgiving for food, family, and fun is high on the list of favorites. There is nothing wrong with that. We just make sure we remember that if not for the provisions, grace, and mercy of God there might not be a turkey, or other food for us to enjoy. In Psalm 107:1. we recognize that God’s mercy is everlasting. Be thankful for mercy because it sustains and protects us from our poor decisions, and actions. So, this year before you plan, cook, and eat from that thanksgiving table, thank God first. Read more here: 2 Corinthians 4:15, 2 Corinthians 9:11.
5. Be a blessing to others. The upcoming season for giving is not reserved only for you receiving gifts from family, and others. It is indeed a good feeling to receive gifts. Therefore, think of someone who does not experience that feeling of receiving. Adding a moment of joy to someone else delights God, and increases your blessings. Yep, it is right here in Psalms 41: 1-3. Bless others with giving and reap the blessing of God! Not all blessings are monetary. Some blessings are those we don’t instantly recognize. Don’t miss yours. Grab it, then release it into another person’s life.
