God is powerful. He is the most powerful person we know. The next time you or someone you know struggling with faith, think of His power.
Human nature allows us to know what powerful means. We can see power in action with our eyes. The experiences we encounter with power are embedded in our environment and our own strength. Because of this, we are limited in our power, or in seeing much power in action. When we struggle with things that challenge our faith, we cannot often see beyond our strength. As a result, we fail to remember how powerful God is.
It is possible to know that God is all powerful, but difficult to fully conceive His total power. I think we all may experience this as we rely on our knowledge of God as human nature dictates. As situations arise in our lives, we panic, fear, and worry. We do all these while trying to maintain our faith in God. I have done the same thing, but recently I was reminded that God has the power to restore all that the enemy steals from us.
It is really simple, but for some reason we forget all we know about God in our panic and times of crisis. Think about the last time you were unexpectedly faced with a dire situation. I imagine the first thing you thought of was how you would quickly resolve the situation. I know, I have also done that. Let me encourage you to think differently if you face difficulties again that seem too hard.
I wrote that it is simple, and it is. All you have to do is replace your panic with your knowledge of God and his amazing power. Here are a few of God and Jesus’ powerful acts to remember when you think your problem is impossible to resolve. With God nothing is impossible.
- Genesis 1– God created a whole world in seven days just by speaking!
- John 11– Jesus woke up people who were dead. Dead, I say! Lazarus had been dead four days! Jesus just spoke and told Lazarus to come forth.
- Exodus 7, John 2– God changed water into blood, and Jesus changed water into wine!
- Matthew 9– Jesus’ power radiated through his clothes and healed a woman as she touched the hem of his garment!
- Matthew 14– Jesus walked on water to get to the disciples in a storm. Walked on water! What kind of power is that?
- Matthew 14– Jesus fed over five thousand people with 2 fish and 5 loves of bread.
- John 5– Jesus told a man who had been lame all his life, 38 years, to just pick up his bed and walk!
What kind of power is that?
That kind of power is ALL POWERFUL. That kind of power is omnipotent which comes from omni- meaning “all” and potent meaning “power.” It embodies someone that no one else can compete with or overtake. It is amazing power that leaves us in awe. It is a power that we can use when we are faced with the impossible.
So, the next time you encounter an impossible situation remember you serve a God that can do anything. Remember the miracles performed in the Bible and know that God still delivers on his promises.
What is your favorite miracle in the Bible? Next time I hope you will meditate on that and the amazing power of God when trouble comes. Also, listen to my audio messages The Hem, and The Pool, for refreshing words of encouragement. All donations help us spread the Word of God. Thanks, Anita
