Media is fascinating especially when it links with power plays like the highly anticipated Super Bowl game. We have just witnessed the end of the 5-year title run of the New England Patriots to the Philadelphia Eagles. Congratulations!
Media allows us to enjoy, hate, love or cringe at the advertisements throughout the game. Reckless, fun, and entertaining, the ads take turns to reach a variety of emotions in our being. Media in the Super Bowl should rival the media in Ministry but that is not always the case.
I have always found technology fascinating. in high school and college I remember conversations about how computer class was hard. Those were the days of the dinosaur desktops with the black and green screens. What a long way we have come. I cannot honestly say whether it has gotten harder or easier. I can say that it certainly has gotten better because of media. As we view the game ads we can see the evolution of the tools and it is wonderful.
As a child, media in our house was the newspaper, and T.V. I was raised by a father who loved gadgets. He was always willing to try the new and innovative tools and products on the market. Since I am a daddy’s girl I was right there when he brought home his newest toy.
We were one of the first to have a T.V. and telephone on our street, so I was pretty aware of societal issues. I sat at dad’s feet every evening to watch the nightly news and whatever program would follow while he read the newspaper.
Now as an adult and dad a healthy ninety year old, I can say that the media has had a major impact on our lives. As people who love information and tools that take us where we want to go, anyone in ministry should embrace all available outlets to spread the Word. Just like the Super Bowl reaches millions in one setting, ministries should use the media to do the same. We are charged to reach people with God’s messages.
Here are the top five reasons to use the media in your ministry to reach the masses with the message:
- Media reaches the masses with the message. The Bible states that those who are on the mission for Christ to go and teach and spread the message to all men. Needless to say, media are readily available tools to accomplish this. With satellites, social media, and other types, there is no good reason to stay unbodied within your own cubby. At anitadkings.com we use tools to reach the masses with our series of healing and life messages. If you can’t, someone can and you should use them to help you spread the message. Go, and tell someone in Uganda about Jesus.
- Media boosts your standing and capabilities in the community and world as messengers of the truth. Moving beyond the church walls to the world and community will bring your work to the forefront. The media will empower you to grow and provide opportunities for future events and programs. Our sister website www.penandquote.com shares our editing and publishing capabilities for the world to see.
- Media allows you to be you. As you move into your ministry it becomes a part of you and you represent the message you are sending. Ministries are built on the personality and wholesomeness of the person projecting the information. I am free to express the messages as inspired by God. Media allows you to express yourself in many ways that will impact the lives of others in a positive way. s
- Media focuses on the creativity of you and your desire to reach others in a variety of ways with a variety of options to do it. Whether it is voice or music like we share at The Personal Prayer Closet, you have the option to choose. We chose to use our voice and music to help those who need inspiration, encouragement, and peace.
- Media is here to stay and it is growing daily. Once you prepare your message, you can choose how you want to spread it. Now all it takes is a push of a button and a small amount of adjusting and you are on your way. Simply because media is there, you can do it.
The media is an important component to any ministry and we love the use of our outlets and tools to keep the message of God and Jesus in the limelight. How to you use media to support your ministry? Let us know. Anita
